Vacation in SLO

So our vacation time was limited to San Luis Obispo this year due to the twins age (and honestly due to the nature of the twins, we weren't brave enough to go out alone with all three to a unfamiliar destination...)

But who could not like SLO we were able to do all our favorite things and have help with the kids, which is so great! We also got to see our nieces whom we just adore. They are all getting so big now. The girls came for two days and one night and boy was it fun. The kids play so great together and are so tired at the end of the day.

4th of July Weekend

Well since 4th of July weekend it's been a little crazy around here.

We had a friend from down South come stay and help out, which was not only a blessing but tons of fun. After she left, she and I got some kind of food poisoning or the flu, but I was down for four days and had to back track again with the twins. Jason and I have been through the ringer since the twins have been born; sickness, ants, worms in the kitchen... We are definitely longing to have family in the area to help out...

What it's like to have twins

A little info :)

For all of you wondering what it's like to have twins :)

This past week...

Jason and I are so exhausted from getting up at night that the other day

while getting a bottle for Jason's night time feeding (the only time I try to feed them bottles) I poured the milk into the bottle and then quickly realized I poured it into a empty bottle without the bottle liner...so it was all over the counter...

This morning I was so tired I left the frig open and Jason came in at 7am before work and asked how long the frig had been opened...luckily it was only since 5am, but it could of been worse...but it wasn't...

Lovely...we need these two to start sleeping more at night. Last night one went for five hours so I don't think it will be long now, but you never know.

We are enjoying them though...

BTW: Out the window of the picture with jason and Taryn you can see the sky is orange from the Santa Cruz fires.

It is strange to me still to see little girl clothing and stuff around the house. All is fun though and Taryn has daddy around her finger already.

Dylan graduates from Pre-Kindergarten

The decision was made awhile back to wait a year before sending Dylan to Kindergarten. To wait to send him worked out perfectly. Dylan was given a year to mature and adjust to San Jose. We found a great Pre-K program for him this last year, it was hard at the beginning, but in the end it all worked out and we (including us because aren't we in on the journey) are ready for Kindergarten next year.
For those who are debating i say no harm in waiting, they have their whole life ahead of them.

Minor Set Back

Well on Memorial Day I was taken to the ER due to incredible back, abdominal and leg pain.

Although I fought staying at the hospital I was admitted in the morning due to a infection on the lining of my uterus...talk about pain...wow...

In any case i was there until Thursday morning...

The Twins at Home

Whew we are tired...already...

On May 14th the twins came home from being in the NICU for a week.

Big Brother Dylan finally gets to meet the twins!!!
He was just thrilled to finally see them and O'so proud to
finally be a BIG brother!

It was perfect too becasue the nurses made a big to do about him being a big brother, it was so cute. I don't think i've ever seen him so excited and proud at the same time.

Jason ended up in a meeting when the doctor finally dismissed them from the hospital so we had a couple nurses help us down stairs with all the stuff!!! Jason was so bummed he missed it...and we were too.

I couldn't believe all the stuff, we had to use a cart to get it down to the car.

The sweet email Jason sent out to all our friends and family:)

We are pleased to announce the arrival of the Weller twins, Nolan Luke and Taryn Grace. These cuties were born on Wednesday 5/7/08 at 4:40 and 4:41 PM. Nolan weighed 6 lbs, 4 oz, and 20” long and Taryn weighed 4 lbs, 13 oz, and 18.5” long. They were born a little premature at +34 weeks and are currently being monitored in the NICU, but are healthy and doing well. Shelly is pain and recovering from an unexpected caesarean section. During labor, Nolan’s vital signs started to drop and they had to deliver the babies immediately. We anticipate Shelly returning home on Mother’s Day and the twins staying in the NICU for an unknown amount of time. Attached are pictures of the guys and gals together. We are so blessed and thank you all for your prayers and support.

Dylan hasn't seen the twins yet due to being in the NICU. We can't wait for him to meet his new brother/sister. This has been hard for him and us; it's a bummer they don't let children in the NICU, but we understand. Anyway, Dylan drew this pictures for their isolates.

A little update

On the way back from purchasing the van in Petaluma we stopped to stretch our legs off of HWY 1 at this great hiking area. Although I couldn't hike a ton, we were able to get up high enough to see some of the old army barracks and explore a little. We were all tired from waking up early and rushing to Petaluma, but it was great to get out for awhile. It was a beautiful day in SF.

Some friends in Bakersfield were so sweet to throw us a twin shower before Easter.

It was so great to see everyone.

My mom came and Sharon and our nieces came from Santa Clarita. They were so cute at the shower. Little Miss Aubrey helped me open gifts, which helped so much and was such a sweet time between the two of us.

Easter this year was interesting without family...

We had some friends invite us to their house up in the Los Gatos Mtns. They had a great Easter egg hunt for the kids, they hid about 300 eggs...

I'm not as active as I used to be, but I'm making it to the end...

We are doing well. Since week 29 hit I've been a lot more tired and i'm in a lot of pain with my back. The doctor said this is where a single/twin pregnancy differs the last couple of weeks are much harder on a woman carrying twins. WIth that said I think it's hard for all the last month of the pregnancy. I've been in a lot of pain though, so if you can keep me in your prayers that would be great. Week 33 starts Monday and they are hoping I make it to week 36; babies are very healthy and moving a TON.

Dylan is imitating what I do on the couch...it was pretty funny.

Alright now we are on a ten week countdown. Ten weeks meaning, I'm at 26 weeks now and ten more weeks until 36 weeks, which is what my doctor hopes I will make it to.

I'm thrilled it's ten more weeks, I NEED A RUN!!!

Is that selfish or what! Give me a little grace though I've been running consistently since college and exercising since six, so a little grace is needed... Running can be addictive you know...and it definitely was a "love hate" situation for me (as the gals in Bakersfield can testify).

In any case, I have a goal, which is to do the Nike half in October of 2009, which is a fair goal.

I met a gal at church the other day with 12 month old twins (we've never met so many people with twins, there are tons of twins up here). Anyway, the gal said she ran marathons before twins and at about six weeks after giving birth she started running again (although it was tough) she stuck with it and just ran another marathon.

Okay so i will not be running a marathon, but Nike Half Fall of 2009 is a fair goal and if anyone wants to join me they are welcome.

Hey, just because we have kids doesn't mean we can not have goals and hobbies.

(Notice time...having a little issue with insomnia again tonight, i've actually done a lot better lately, but for whatever reason i'm up tonight).

BTW: For those that know us well know we were strongly opposed to the idea of ever owning a mini-van, but we bit our pride and took the plung over the weekend. We found a loaded Honda Odyssey in Petaluma and it was the exact color Jason wanted. We still can't believe we did it, but you know we really like the van. We looked and looked at different automobiles and finally God just provided the right one for our family.

On the side: Jason and I had this talk about saying we will never do things...every time we say we will never...ever...do something we always end up coming around to, so ENOUGH already.

Life is changing for us...and we are embracing the changes ahead.
