Sleep + Two

I love to nap with Nolan.
There I said it.
He is so squishy, cuddly and doesn't even wiggle when napping.
He is a dream to sleep with.
You would think Taryn would be the one to sleep with, but o'no...
It's Nolan.
Taryn is cuddly and all, but she is SO wiggly when it comes time to fall asleep.
Nolan on the other hand.
Falls right to sleep and is a squishy rock solid sleeper.
It's awesome!
So.
I love to lay down with him at least for five minutes.
It's been like this for awhile.
You may ask, "doesn't Taryn want you to lay down with her too"
Occasionally
 and I do,
but then she pushes me and says,
"Nolan's turn"
and
She's okay with it.
Why?
I don't know the twin thing is complex, but it works.
And.
Then I get to sleep with "dreamy".
And sometimes he's just hilarious when I go in to pick him up out of nap time.
One day i found him ready to get out of bed like this :)
Since we are talking about sleep i found Taryn asleep in her bed a little conflicted...
Apparently she got into the dress up during nap time...and became a ballerina "batman"?
Too funny.
Hope your sleeping good.
Enjoy your time with your kids it goes SO fast.

Ken and Barbie at Three

While Dylan is off at school and we are home doing chores and what not...
The twins do their "twin talk"
They play and play and play some more.
They really love each other so much.
It's so perfect because they are boy/girl twins.
So one is always the "daddy" or "Ken" and one is the "mommy" or "Barbie" and it works.
Except my daughter always reminds me;
"Mom we really need a "Ken" barbie"
Really bad!!!"
And then I'll hear this like right now;

"Ken it's raining..." -T
"Okay Barbie I'll be right there" -N
"Ken I have a new hiding place" -T
"Barbie where are you" -N
"Ken let's go" -T
...and on and on it goes...
Dang it is SO cute how they play.

Truth be told we don't even have a "official Barbie doll" yet, princess dolls, but no barbies.
Hilarious huh.

I can't even get a word in.
But on those rainy days like today, it's awesome because I can get so much done in the house.
What a blessing.

When Mom Does Laundry

When I do laundry the twins LOVE our socks.
I think they have a sock of each family member on their feet...
We start out so mellow...
playing with the socks while mom does laundry...
and then one thing leads to another...
Nolan is our lover always giving out kisses and he finally got a HUG in the end.

Confessions of a Twin + One

One of the biggest things i have learned being a mother of twins and a seven year old is I am a lot stronger than I thought I was...  I've learned to trust the Lord more with our kids and I've learned to be a stronger mother.  I mean I'm not allowing my kids to run around undisciplined and out of control they are doing good; listening, obeying and being gentle with each other etc...  I guess I'm just trying to say although I feel really insecure most of the time as a mother, I'm a lot stronger than I realize and that has come over time.  Time meaning the last two years have made me a better person and a more disciplined mother.  Honestly, you have no choice when you have twins it can only get better from there on out because you have to be disciplined and things have to be in order with twins and multiple children for goodness sake.  I hope people can relate.  I'm not saying that I have accomplished motherhood and reached a point of excellence...not by any means I'm just saying
I have reached a point in my
"mothering journey"
of saying to myself
"I can do this",
"I've been doing this",
"God is helping me each day be a mother",
"this is working",
"I'm not that bad",
"the kids are doing great",
"I'm teachable and teaching".
Everything is going to be just fine.

Twin Talk

I heard about it, but wasn’t sure i was a believer and then i heard it.
It’s absolutely adorable and so enjoyable to listen to.
They talk and talk and understand each other.  They console one another, comfort, love, sing and chatter communicating in their own special way.
It’s SO cute.
If you listen carefully you hear words here and there, but they’ve got their own language.
So Sweet.

Confession of a Twin Mother

Having twins is Hard.
I said it and i feel so much better.
I love love love Nolan and Taryn (and Dylan of course).
Twins at Nineteen months entering two is tougher than i thought.
Having confessed how tough it is feels better than holding it all in.
When one has something the other wants its tough, when one falls down and is crying the other falls down and this is alllllllllllll day long...they are both trying to communicate, but just not there yet...
Then there is the "toy" issue :)
Some moms of twins say, "buy two of everything" but...they still have to learn to share even if you have "two" so i don't know if i agree.
It takes a lot of patience, a lot of time, prayer and a lot of training.
I only have two hands, i wish i had four.
When one wants up the other wants up, not all the time, but some days more than others.
Taryn and Nolan are very easy going kids for the most part, which i am o'so thankful for (please don't get me wrong all around i love and am so thankful for all our kids). "the hardest job i'll ever love"...

I need prayer for patience and lots of lots of LOVE as we are entering the "two's"
I love it and it's a ton of fun, but it is not easy.
Can you relate?

webkinz on hold twins on the run?@$*&@^%

so i'm just documenting today on my blog...just because...
so after dylan's swim lessons we went to run some errands together one mommy plus three. all was going well the babies fell asleep for their first nap and so i was able to find a nice card for my honey at hallmark (we have an anniversary coming up). in any case, the twins were asleep and dylan was checking out beloved "webkinz". i picked out a card and then a lady at hallmark says right in my daughters face who is asleep "are they twins"? "yes" i replied quietly. "o' they are so cute...wow they are both asleep...o'close your eyes honey it's okay...looks like she's awake now...and keeps looking at her..."
...okay anyone whose had kids knows they go in and out asleep...best not to notice if they open eyes slightly...thanks to the woman at hallmark i have one awake now...
i'm departing hallmark and another lady says to me, "by the way i just wanted to tell you that your older son asked me to put this one "turtle" webkinz on hold until his birthday on september 22nd..." HILARIOUS!!! dylan is so funny sometimes. "thanks for letting me know" (with a chuckle) i reply and move on.
things are going good i take dylan to a special store walking distance nearby and get a jamba juice with him.
we go to the next place we need to go and i decide it's time to teach nolan and taryn to hold onto the stroller and walk with me. (what was i thinking...who am i kidding i am not supermom) so i take both of them out and they don't move very fast (thankfully), but they are just curious and doing there thing in two different directions. so i try to teach them to hold on and push the stroller. okay i have one on...turn my back to get the second and the one takes off with the stroller and dylan is just laughing so hard because they never usually move that fast... what is my deal, i could of prevented all that by locking the wheels...duh... anyway so i get the second and then the first and back and forth for like what seemed to be ten minutes...and then the heavens sang because i finally got two on the back helping me push the stroller!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH....
btw: dylan got so tired of waiting for us to get on the ball that he sat in the stroller, which must of looked really funny, but actually helped slow the stroller down.
okay the end

Life with Two + one

okay remember awhile back i did a post on taking the twins to the pool and what a breeze it was... well now the twins are almost 15 months and not such a breeze anymore. at the pool since it's just me i have to keep the babies in the pool and i have to be super consistent. i will not be chasing two kids around the pool deck! every day is a CRAZY day for me. the twins have decided to assert their wills and i know it's all about consistency, but if anyone is reading this that has twins knows it is NOT easy once they hit a certain age. every time i turn around someone is into something...just imagine your one at this age + one more, it's wild! i pray every day for wisdom and grace with the kids, but two has definitely become a challenge lately. we have very funny times now as you can see below.
i've heard every family has a goof ball and ours is hands down, nolan...he is just funny...
nolan can not be seen without his beads on. after a bath he goes straight for them as if they are an essential to his outfit, which he is lacking
rambo style

then there is our trip to costco. when i looked down taryn had her arm around nolan's shoulder, just happened to have my camera...so cute...
any advice from moms of more than one is welcome...

Swimming with Twins

Logistically with twins it is just tough; if you have other children it just makes it a little tougher. I think that is one of the trickiest things with two babies is the transportation and just getting here and there. Once they start walking you breath this huge sigh of relief because you realize you just have to take a hand not a whole body. In any case we have made it to the walking stage and what a joy the year has been, but what a challenge as well.
One of the most challenging is taking the kids to the pool. I'm up for the challenge because i love water and want to expose Nolan and Taryn to the water, but it's a little tricky. There is always a mother or two at the pool that offer to help and i have learned this past year to say, "yes" to anyone who seems to genuinely care.
In any case, this is one way i travel around the kiddie pool with Nolan and Taryn. Nolan is a bit nervous in the water and feels most comfortable touching me so i put him on my back and he is just so good with being there. Taryn on the other hand is little miss busy in the pool so i travel around the kiddie pool on my tummy making sure Taryn is enjoying herself and not drowning. Dylan is just SO busy swimming so i keep one eye on him as well, but he's good in the water. It's really tricking getting in and out and you just have to be a little firmer because there are two, but it's definitely doable and o'so much fun.

BTW: Taryn so didn't need another swimsuit but i found this one at gapkids for $2.99 yes you got it right, $2.99, can you believe it... I couldn't pass it up for $3

Firsts

We thought this was pretty funny at our house. The other day Taryn was caught sitting in her high chair with her finger in her nose. Just exploring the hole and fasinated with her nose.

So it must be a mildstone because a week later Nolan was doing the exact same thing.

The twins both started walking. Taryn started walking about a month ahead of Nolan. Amazing for a child who was born at 34 weeks and weighed only 4.14lbs. The doctor said they may have their firsts a little later than normal and boy was he wrong. Nolan and Taryn are just doing awesome. I have to admit it is a little crazy around here since they both started walking. Wanted to get Nolan's first steps in something other than a white onesie, but o'well. Just feel a little guilty because Taryn is all cute in a dress and ponytails and Nolan is in a plain onesie; not to mention Nolan's video is o'so short, but it's hard to catch him walking far, he's up and down. Since Nolan started walking Taryn is giving him more love on the head and hugs. It's almost like she is proud of him for making his way upward.

A Twin Visit to the doctor at five months

Visiting the doctor with the twins
These are so cute i just had to share them.
After the first two disasterous doctor apts by myself with the kids i decided it would be best to have Jason tag along and he thought it was a good idea as well. Having one child get shots is hard enough having two is tough. How come when your husband comes along it's never as hard as it was described??? I was lucky though the nurse gave Jason a look and a detailed explanation of why help was needed after the last visit. The doctor also was thrilled to see Jason tag along. Dylan was so thrilled to not have to tag along to one of the twins doctor visits....
This visit below went so smoothly, i mean even pictures, wow!

Taryn dressed before shots, doesn't she look SO cute!

Taryn preparing for shots before weighing in at 15lbs (already)! Taryn thought it was party time, little does she know... Preparing Nolan for weigh in at 17lbs at 5 months
Remember these guys were born at 34 weeks...cool huh...what a cutie!
Both getting ready for shots

Okay that's the end of the pictures before shots...we had to have all hands on deck after this photo...

The twins
Some of you have been asking for some recent pictures of the twins...
It is not easy to get a good picture of the twins, but these turned out okay.
So here's a bunch of recent pictures. We've heard at about six months twins discover each other. It's really cute lately they have been checking each other out more.
They are almost four months and both smiling away.

The Twins at Home

Whew we are tired...already...

Saturday, May 17, 2008

On May 14th the twins came home from being in the NICU for a week.
Big Brother Dylan finally gets to meet the twins!!!
He was just thrilled to finally see them and O'so proud to
finally be a BIG brother!

It was perfect too becasue the nurses made a big to do about him being a big brother, it was so cute. I don't think i've ever seen him so excited and proud at the same time.

Jason ended up in a meeting when the doctor finally dismissed them from the hospital so we had a couple nurses help us down stairs with all the stuff!!! Jason was so bummed he missed it...and we were too.

I couldn't believe all the stuff, we had to use a cart to get it down to the car.

THE STUFF~!

The car ride home Dylan was just beaming that he now had a brother/sister!
In the drive way...when we got hom.

Twins...Twins...Twins

The Twins have finally arrived

Nolan Luke

Taryn Grace
Taryn Grace

The sweet email Jason sent out to all our friends and family:)

We are pleased to announce the arrival of the Weller twins, Nolan Luke and Taryn Grace. These cuties were born on Wednesday 5/7/08 at 4:40 and 4:41 PM. Nolan weighed 6 lbs, 4 oz, and 20” long and Taryn weighed 4 lbs, 13 oz, and 18.5” long. They were born a little premature at +34 weeks and are currently being monitored in the NICU, but are healthy and doing well. Shelly is pain and recovering from an unexpected caesarean section. During labor, Nolan’s vital signs started to drop and they had to deliver the babies immediately. We anticipate Shelly returning home on Mother’s Day and the twins staying in the NICU for an unknown amount of time. Attached are pictures of the guys and gals together. We are so blessed and thank you all for your prayers and support.

With smiles,

Jason

Taryn in transition from isolate to crib

Dylan hasn't seen the twins yet due to being in the NICU. We can't wait for him to meet his new brother/sister. This has been hard for him and us; it's a bummer they don't let children in the NICU, but we understand. Anyway, Dylan drew this pictures for their isolates.

Since we are going through Proverbs as a family my latest favorite is and this is the NIV Adventure Bible.

"My son, hold on to good sense and the understanding of what is right. Don't let them out of your sight. They will be life for you. They will be like a gracious necklace around your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety. You will not trip and fall, When you lie down you won't be afraid When you lie down you will sleep soundly."
